There are certainly benefits to social media. The expediency of disseminating information and building relationships are infinitely greater. The ability to create meaning with brevity is certainly useful in this “instant gratification” society. (I recently read a suggestion that voice mail should be 140 characters!) Social Media Recruiting and Getting Results!

I read a recent article by Bill Boorman about how one recruiter hired 27 IT staff through Twitter. The candidates he sourced were very much passive candidates who did not have CV’s. The techniques used by this recruiter would be one’s that a savvy salesperson or marketer would use to find their target audience. The most important thing that one can do is to firstly have a very good understanding of who these candidates are that you are searching for. Without this it is impossible to know where to find them, recognize them and know how to engage with them….

Social Media – Before Diving In, Know How to Swim!
