I
’ve often heard speakers in delivering their motivational prose to audiences say, “the sky’s the limit.” What if we do a little paradigm shift and say, “The sky is no limit?” The latter gives you a whole new mindset and it removes the limitations we place on ourselves. Look at your business…what limitations have you been unconsciously setting that are hindering your growth potential?
If you want to be a winner in your business, watch the moves
of the big winners like: Sara Blakely (The Queen of SPANX) and Lisa Price (Carol’s Daughter). These powerful entrepreneurial women had a dream, vision and an idea that launched them into the stratosphere of business success. Here’s the trick. The #1 success factor is to “ think big and be bold”. Again, it’s a mindset shift of having no limitations.
So, here are four ways you can achieve faster growth in your business, by shifting your mindset:
Move from being a “hobbyist” to a “business owner”.
As a solo-entrepreneur, entrepreneur or small-business owner, you will continue to experience slow or no growth if you don’t run your business like a CEO. It’s when you take great leaps that you will begin thinking like an entrepreneur and start seeing some significant success in your business. Most of entrepreneurs started their business, because they wanted to be their own boss. They had a passion to serve others; it was a life-long dream and vision, or borne out of their own pain. Whatever the reason, you have to step back and reflect…how you are going to expand your vision? Dibbling and dappling will not create growth.
Don’t get too complacent.
If you don’t allow yourself to be stretched beyond your comfort zone, then you’ll become stifled in your business and you’ll see little growth. We’ve all heard the saying, “your thoughts determine your actions.”
So, why not set your mind on growth and success? Be that CEO of your business who thinks big and is passionate about their business growth. You’ll start to see growth and success because you decided not to be complacent and stay small.
Keep moving your target.
When I mentioned above that “The sky is no limit,” it means even when you set a desired goal, don’t just stop there. Reach higher that before. The founder of USABride, which is based in Beverly, Massachusetts, and sells wedding accessories online, used to think that making $1 million was an impossible dream. After all, she’d started with five veils and five tiaras, $30,000 in debt and working out of her apartment, but when the first $1 million came, she moved her target to $3 million, then to $5 million. Don’t let fear of failure hold you back.
Those entrepreneurs who have made it big are the same ones who have suffered great losses too. If you aren’t willing to take risk, then you will probably stay where you are. I read an article that said, “ women are uncomfortable with losing but unless you’re willing to risk it all, you can win it all.”
So, where is your head? Are you thinking big and bold? If you aren’t operating your business like a CEO, unwilling to move beyond your comfort zone and reach for the highest mark or take risk, then you aren’t probably going to see fast growth in your business.
