Many times the stress of life and the numerous tasks that we have to accomplish weigh on us and prevent us from being able to go to sleep easily. When we have such difficulties we often go over and over them in our minds. Getting to sleep easily and staying asleep is often challenging during more stressful times. Our muscles are tense and our minds are spinning. Here’s how to get your mind to rest and your body to relax, thus getting to sleep more easily and waking up more rested.
1. Take a bath or shower before going to bed. This releases the energy from the day. The negative ions of the shower help the energy body and mind release the nagging thoughts.
2. Use a spray that has lavender in it and spray your pillow.
3. Do a few stretches with your arms going to the sky before going to bed. You can also do a downward bend stretch and just gently hang there. This allows the blood and body to release tension.
4. Remove all electronic devices from your bedroom. TV’s, CD players, clock radios all emit a harsh sounding energy and getting them out of the room allows the mind and body to truly rest.
5. Take all your issues that are worrying you or stressing you and place them in your right hand. Next say I give these up for this moment and will pick them up tomorrow.
6. Write down your issues in a book and pick them up later.
7. Do a 15 minute meditation that is calming and soothing, which helps the brain to shut off.
Tips
Be gentle when doing any stretching before bed.
Only spend 15 minutes in the bath if bathing before bed. Any more than that is counter productive.
Use 2 pounds of regular salt when taking a bath. It’s actually a good release for stuck energy and worrying minds.
In honor of National Sleep Awareness week. Try these and see how much better you feel and relate to others.
