A Better Option To A Buy And Hold Strategy (aka Why I Hate Buy and Hold)

Anyone who has consistently read this blog, knows that I am not a fan of buy and hold investing, or as I like to call it – the buy and pray strategy. (The chart below is a great example). The problem (i.e. the myth of buy and hold) started back in the 1990′s. The 1980′s and 90′s were a great time to be an investor in U.S. stocks. Practically any strategy could be used and an investor would make money. Mutual fund companies wanted to make investing seem easy and that everyone should do it. The mutual fund marketing machine was running full speed ahead.

Are You Looking For Happiness In All the Wrong Places

It’s easier said than done, this happiness thing. Every time you say you’re happy then your little mind, the subconscious, throws a curve ball into your day or life. Those curve balls are there just to see how happy you really are and to get you to pay attention to all the tools and techniques that you’ve already learned so that you can have a better state of happiness.

Why You Are Still Struggling with Time Management

[ridged_mf08e-285x380] So, you dutifully read LifeHack. You bought and read Getting Things Done and The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People. You KNOW that you would be much happier if you could get more of the important things at work done and you vow to make your To-Do (or TeuxDeux) list every morning…but you don’t. You get sucked into email and meaningless meetings then find yourself pulling all-nighters to get a deliverable out the door on time. You feel burnt out. You feel unfulfilled. Taming the Inner Critic 5 – The Body and It’s Critics End Their War

I worked with someone the other day and her inner critic was so loud about nearly everything in her life – worries about not enough money, worried that she couldn’t pay her mortgage even though she’d just landed some big money, worries about when the money runs out, worried that her boyfriend was going to dump her, etc — that I had to get very very quiet and listen to find the loudest. Turns out the loudest inner critic for her was her body image. Is this yours? There is so much loathing around our bodies and comparison only makes…

The Anti-Chaos Meditation Makes For a Better Leader

How is it that meditation is so good for you and yet it seems so hard to do?  It’s supposed to bring about peace, but in many cases it brings its own frustrations.  I was there and had so much “monkey mind” going on and tried everything. Nothing worked. Fast forward through corporate years, a near death experience because of stress and misdiagnosis and a doctor that told me to learn to meditate and eat more living food meaning vegetables. Chaos comes from the worries and fears of “not” being good enough, perfect enough, happy enough, successful enough, on top…

Reasons To Be Cheerful Part I

Of course, I’m not suggesting that you hold weekly interrogative interviews with every member of your workforce! Nor am I suggesting that you will always be in a position to help. In many cases, you’re offers of assistance will most likely be declined anyway. You must tread carefully but the fact that you are listening to what’s being said will provide you with the opportunity to show that you care. That you are reinforcing the psychological contract between you and the person that you’re working with and importantly, that you understand that life goes on outside of the workplace. You realize the overall impact of continual outside pressure will inevitably start to manifest itself at work.

AT&T iPhone Connection Isn’t iLove Connection

I am a blogger (writer) and I am trying to get my writing career off the ground again, but I fear I will miss an important call or email, which concerns me. I have been thinking of getting a basic flip phone just for calls, but with email being the choice of communication for most, especially me, I am not sure if getting a flip phone would be a smart idea.
